Top 5 features that I wish Microsoft Loop had.

Microsoft Loop is one of the latest additions to the Microsoft 365 suite of apps. It aims to provide a next-generation co-creation experience that brings together teams, content, and tasks across apps and devices. In my opinion, Microsoft Loop’s unique ability to integrate components like tables and task-lists seamlessly across multiple Microsoft products, such as teams, Outlook, etc., and make real-time, in-place collaboration a breeze makes it stand apart from the competition.
However, as with any new product, there is always room for improvement. In this post, I will share my opinion on the top 5 features that are currently missing from Microsoft Loop. These features are based on my personal experience using Loop as well as feedback from other users and experts.

  1. Share Loop Components with External Users: Microsoft Loop does not allow sharing of Loop components with external users. This feature would enable users to collaborate with external stakeholders such as clients, vendors, or partners, thereby increasing the scope of collaboration and productivity.
  2. Export Loop pages to PDF: Currently, there is no way to export Loop pages. This feature would enable users to share Loop pages with stakeholders who do not have access to Microsoft Loop, thereby increasing the reach of the content.
  3. Ability to create reusable Component or Page templates: There is no way to create reusable components and pages in Microsoft Loop. This feature would help users save time and effort by creating templates that can be used across multiple projects, thereby increasing productivity. For example, a user could create a Loop page template that contains a standard layout and format for a project plan or a Loop component template that contains a predefined set of tasks for a sprint.
  4. Import Data into loop components ( E.g Import from Excel or CSV to a table): Microsoft Loop does not provide an option to import data into Loop components. This feature would enable users to import data from external sources, such as Excel or CSV files, thereby increasing the accuracy and efficiency of data entry. For example, a user could import a list of contacts from an Excel file into a Loop table component or a list of sales figures from a CSV file into a Loop chart component.
  5. Integration with a diagramming tool such as Mermaid.js or Visio: Loop does not have an option to integrate with a diagramming tool such as Mermaid.js or Visio. This feature would enable users to create diagrams and flowcharts within Loop, increasing the visual appeal and clarity of the content. A user could create a Loop diagram component that contains a flowchart of a business process or a Loop diagram component that contains a network diagram of a system architecture.

Microsoft Loop is a promising app that has the potential to revolutionize the way we work together. It offers a powerful and flexible canvas with portable components that move freely and stay in sync across applications. It also has a Copilot feature that helps you co-create, stay up-to-date, and pick up where others left off. However, as I have discussed in this blog post, there are some features that I wish Microsoft Loop had. I believe that by adding these features, Microsoft Loop can become an even more versatile and useful app for collaboration and productivity.

What do you think? Do you agree with my list of features? Do you have any other features that you wish Microsoft Loop had? Let me know in the comments below. Thank you for reading.
